WARDOGS Launch Stability Hotfix #1
Client patch deployed four hours after Early Access unlock — fixing three launch-night faults.
Bulkhead shipped a client hotfix at 20:20 UTC on 10 September 2026, roughly four hours after the 16:00 UTC Early Access unlock. The patch targeted three launch-night faults that prevented players from entering or staying in matches.
This page covers what the hotfix changed and what error pages were re-sourced as a result.
What was deployed
All players who were logged in at 20:20 UTC were forced to close WARDOGS and download a client update on relaunch. After updating, every player returned to the login queue. Bulkhead let players in in controlled batches, widening the gates as players successfully reached servers.
Three faults addressed
Players unable to join servers
Error 1628505091 appeared when players attempted to connect to a server. The connection would time out before the match loaded. The hotfix corrected the join path so that timeout no longer occurs on viable connections.
Players kicked from servers mid-match
Players who successfully joined were being unexpectedly disconnected during active gameplay. This affected the first hours of Early Access significantly enough that Bulkhead addressed it in the first client patch. The kick message now only appears if the player was actually banned — other disconnects are handled differently.
Extended login queue times
The authentication system was not processing login requests at the rate required for the launch population. The queue moved slowly or appeared to freeze. Bulkhead controlled the inflow with batched entry after the hotfix to allow the backend to catch up.
What the hotfix did not change
This was a stability and connectivity patch. No balance, price, or progression figures moved. The current build stamp stays at Season 1. The Forward Operating Base, Hammer prices, XP curve, and vehicle unlock costs are unchanged from the Season 1 changelog.
Error pages re-sourced
Four error conditions were re-sourced to the hotfix the same night:
- Join timeout (error 1628505091) — corrected by the hotfix join-path fix.
- Kicked back to the main screen — mid-match kick issue resolved.
- Login queue that never moves — queue flow corrected by batched entry and backend catch-up.
- Failed to authenticate — authentication system stabilised.
Context: launch night at 400,000 peak concurrent users
Bulkhead’s server browser post-patch noted that the game hit 400,000 peak concurrent users during Early Access launch. The launch faults were partly attributed to the volume exceeding pre-launch estimates. The studio stated it was monitoring the situation and working through the night to resolve remaining issues.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common WARDOGS questions.
When was the Launch Stability Hotfix #1 deployed?
The client patch was deployed at 20:20 UTC on 10 September 2026, approximately four hours after the Early Access unlock at 16:00 UTC.
Did the hotfix change any weapon prices or XP rates?
No. This was purely a stability and connectivity patch. No balance, price, or progression figures moved. The build stamp remains at Season 1.
What does 'controlled batches' mean for the login queue?
Bulkhead intentionally limited how many players could enter simultaneously after the hotfix, then gradually widened the gates as the backend caught up. This prevented the authentication system from being overwhelmed again.
What was error 1628505091?
It was a join timeout error that appeared when attempting to connect to a server. The hotfix corrected the connection path so that legitimate join attempts no longer time out.
