Why BULKHEAD built a show instead of a trailer drop
Studio interviews around the August beta were blunt about the crowded FPS calendar: a Call of Duty beta and a Battlefield update landed on the same weekend WARDOGS still pulled on the order of 500,000 unique testers and 100,000+ concurrent. The show is the follow-up beat — a place to stand next to other FPS studios on Twitch rather than hoping the algorithm blesses one more Steam trailer.
BULKHEAD also said out loud that they had planned to announce Closed Beta 02 during the show, then dropped that news early on 1 September because pre-orders and hype were already climbing. The 1 September video (Closed Beta 02 Announcement) is fifty-seven seconds of schedule, not a gameplay dump. They still promised a “huge announcement that no one will see coming” for the 3 September slot. Treat that sentence as marketing until the VOD exists; do not invent a feature list from it.
Closed Beta 02 started when the show did
The beta was framed as a scale test they wanted people to break, starting right after the show on 3 September and running through 6 September 08:00 UTC (Sunday morning UTC / 04:00 ET). Pre-purchase of the $39.99 base game or the $49.99 Supporter Edition guaranteed a seat from 18:00 UTC on the 3rd. Request Access accounts were to be waved in in waves, not as an open beta, specifically so the studio could watch login queues, server browse, Twitch Drops, DLC entitlements, and VOIP fail at scale.
That is why Beta 02 was not “just open it.” New backend systems break differently at 100,000 concurrent than they do at a few thousand. If you hit error 1147405308 or a queue kick during that window, read troubleshooting before you assume you are banned.

What the show was not
- Not the Early Access unlock. That remains 10 September 2026 on Steam for Windows. See Early Access.
- Not a promise of weekly maps, jets on day one, or a battle pass. BULKHEAD’s own “10 Reasons NOT to Buy” line still applies: EA is for iterating the occupancy shooter, not for a content firehose. Launch box talk still clustered around 37 weapons, 21 vehicles, and three maps with variations — numbers that can still move, labelled as studio talk rather than a sealed patch note.
- Not a console reveal by default. Windows via Steam is the platform on the store page.
- Not a PvE campaign. The mode is 100-player PvP. Friends play by joining the same faction on the same server.
If the “huge announcement” on the 3rd was a date, a mode, or a partner, it belongs in Steam News and then on this wiki. Until that post exists in writing, this page will not hallucinate it.
How to watch (and what to do after)
