Red shirts, Soviet fiction, same $10,000 problem as everyone else.

Valkyra Red Faction Guide

Valkyra is the red team in WARDOGS. Official language describes a project to return the Soviet People’s Republic to greatness. On the server, they are the second of three equal factions in a King of the Hill census. If you locked red because you like AK silhouettes, this page tells you what that purchase actually buys — and what it does not.

New players should still start on getting started and how to play. Valkyra will not explain the 30-second tick for you.

Who Valkyra is supposed to be

The fiction sits in Eastern Europe already, so Valkyra is the “home team” flavour in Kolchia without being a single-player campaign. Red callouts, Cyrillic-adjacent presentation in marketing, Soviet restoration as a motive rather than a confirmed campaign map pack. You still buy from the shared vendor. You still die for the same cash.

Starter rifles on the Warsaw-flavoured side of catalogues leaned 5.45 (AK74 as a cheap mid at ~$1,600). That is a comfort pick, not a faction-locked tree. You can run an M4 on Valkyra the moment you unlock and afford it. The weapon tier list does not have a red column.

How to play Valkyra specifically

Same occupancy rules as Lonestar and Manticore:

  • Fill the Control Zone, especially the Hot Zone.
  • Hack towers and type digits for your colour. See tower codes.
  • Taxi red players. A Valkyra Ural is a logistics tool, not a parade float.
  • Expect to be third-partied when you are winning. Red is easy to call on VOIP. Play tighter, not louder.

Pub stereotype will try to make Valkyra the “AK and armour” team. Stereotype is not a loadout. If the current map zone is a residential stairwell, an SMG from the shared catalogue will do more for ticks than a nostalgic rifle you cannot control.

When to pick Valkyra

  • Your stack is already red.
  • You like the restoration fiction and you understand it is flavour.
  • Blue and green are full.
  • You want to practise playing the leader that everyone shoots — Valkyra’s colour is loud on callouts, which is a teaching tool.

When not to pick Valkyra: because a Reddit post claimed red “has better armour.” Buy armour on the vendor like everyone else. Check loadouts.

Countering Valkyra

If red owns the inner circle, you are looking at a census problem, not a lore problem. Collapse from two other colours, steal their tower pull, and do not get baited into a 200-metre DMR war on the rim while they stand in the courtyard. How to win is the same document for all three shirts.

Vehicles they love in montages (Urals, Gepards, whatever the red-camo crowd bought this week) still die to launchers and FOBs. Pack the answer in your loadout instead of complaining that “Valkyra always has armour.”

A sample Valkyra life

Leave spawn with an AK74 or Galil you can rebuy, fill a Ural if nobody is driving, and park people on the inner circle rather than a pretty ridgeline. Call digits in red chat even if your Russian flavour VOIP is a meme. After a wipe, drop to the poverty band on the budget tool instead of buying a second Gepard “to make up for it.” Ticks do not care about pride. They care about living red shirts inside the square — see how to win.
